[Romance Book Club] Vote On January’s Book Club Pick

It’s time to get your votes in for which Book Club pick you lovelies would like to read for next month.  I have three awesome new romance novels to choose from, and I can’t wait to see which one you want to read next.  Here are the options for January 2019…

Good Time by Jana Aston

Marrying a stranger tops the list of things you should never do in Las Vegas, but I did it anyway.

The entire night was my idea. I was the one who suggested a wake-up-with-a-tiger kind of night. Instead, I woke up with a ring on my finger and Vince Rossi in my bed.

Vince, who was nothing like I thought he was and everything I never knew I needed. Suddenly I was falling head-over-heels in love with my accidental husband and the idea of ending this union was the last thing I wanted.

I wanted forever. So what if we barely knew each other? Statistically speaking, our odds were as good as anyone’s

Until the annulment papers landed on my doorstep…

My Favorite Half Night Stand by Christina Lauren

Millie Morris has always been one of the guys. A UC Santa Barbara professor, she’s a female-serial-killer expert who’s quick with a deflection joke and terrible at getting personal. And she, just like her four best guy friends and fellow professors, is perma-single.

So when a routine university function turns into a black tie gala, Mille and her circle make a pact that they’ll join an online dating service to find plus-ones for the event. There’s only one hitch: after making the pact, Millie and one of the guys, Reid Campbell, secretly spend the sexiest half-night of their lives together, but mutually decide the friendship would be better off strictly platonic.

But online dating isn’t for the faint of heart. While the guys are inundated with quality matches and potential dates, Millie’s first profile attempt garners nothing but dick pics and creepers. Enter “Catherine”—Millie’s fictional profile persona, in whose make-believe shoes she can be more vulnerable than she’s ever been in person. Soon “Catherine”and Reid strike up a digital pen-pal-ship…but Millie can’t resist temptation in real life, either. Soon, Millie will have to face her worst fear—intimacy—or risk losing her best friend, forever.

Unzipped by Lauren Blakely

Wanted: hot nerd seeks dating coach.
Picture this – I’m ready to win back the love of my life, and I’m going big this time. We’re talking boom box, sing her name in the rain, let the whole damn neighborhood know I’m good and ready this time around. After all, if you’re going to grand gesture the ever-loving hell out of a second chance, you need to pull out all the stops.
There’s only one little problem.
My college girlfriend isn’t the one who shows up when I play my “I’ll do anything to win you back” tune. The woman who flings open the second-floor window tells me my ex doesn’t live here anymore. But she’ll help me win her back. Anything for romance, anything for a guy so willing to go big for love. And that’s what I want at first. Until I get to know my new “romance coach” and discover she’s funny, clever, and keeps me on my toes. Now I don’t want to win anyone else’s heart. I want the woman who’s been helping me all along. Trouble is – she thinks I’m in love with someone else, and when we take off on a road trip, everything I think I know about women is about to be unzipped and turned inside out.

He’s the last person I ever expected to pop into my life, but he might be exactly what I need to save the thing that matters most to me. All I have to do is not fall for him.

[Newsletter] Sneak Peek + Book Sweeps #Giveaway

Countdown to release date has started! Get your sneak peek here… Can’t see images? Click here…
Hey ,

Happy December! Someone on my Facebook feed this morning had posted how there are only 20 sleeps until Christmas. (And p.s. Hannukah is well under way!) Can that be right? I’m not sure I’m ready yet! I’ve been so busy, I haven’t even had a chance to enjoy the season yet. What about you? Have you had a chance to do any shopping or watch any Holiday Hallmark or Lifetime movies? (If so, tell me which ones are your favorite so I’ll know what to look for when I get a chance to Netflix and chill this season!)

I got the day off from work today. The State of Texas declared today a state holiday in remembrance of our former president, George H. W. Bush. What a beautiful outpouring of honor and respect for a man who spent a lifetime serving his country.

In the spirit of admirable men in office, I can recommend a great book I’ve been reading. Power Games by May Sage is one of those slow burn, page turners. Great book!

I’ve got a couple other book recommendations below that I’ve read and LOVED lately, and keep scrolling for a sneak peek at Off Limits.  Fair warning, it is one of the steamier books I’ve written, so if you’re more a fan of the sweeter, less racy stuff, this one is probably not for you.

Power Games

A slow burn page-turner read by May Sage.  Hello, Mr. President!

Richer Than Sin

Addictive and bingeable read by Meghan March

The Room on Rue Amelie

Historical WWII women’s fic romance that made me ugly-cry – by Kristin Harmel

Sneak Peek! Off Limits

(Warning! Foul Language + Steam)

Girl Code Rule #157: Friends don’t slut shame friends.

Laynie woke to an arm over her waist, a hand cupping her boob, and morning wood nestled between her cheeks.  She could smell Gideon’s scent all over her – his cologne, his skin, his sex – and she was horny all over again.

She hadn’t gone home the night before, and she’d just woken up in Gideon Roth’s hotel bed with him behind her ready to go another round.

She felt her insides clench and ache with the reminder of how he had filled her so fully and deliciously last night.  She knew she had to get up and leave before anyone found out she hadn’t come home, though, or people would start asking questions.

Gideon’s hand traced the length of her curves down the side of her body, sending shivers all the way down to her core.   She felt the wetness pooling between her legs, her body telling her to stay and see what happened, and she was just about to give in to the idea when her phone rang from her purse across the room.

Panic-stricken, she pulled out of Gideon’s arms and sprang from the bed, wrestling her phone from her purse pocket.

Fuck, it was Priya!

Instead of answering, she stumbled around the room pulling her clothes on.

“I have to go,” she said with an apologetic lift of her furrowed brows.  She slipped into her shoes.

Gideon slipped casually out of bed and came to wrap his arms around her.  He pressed a kiss to one corner of her mouth and then the other.

“You could stay for breakfast,” he offered.

She shook her head, holding up her cell.  “It was Priya!  She’s calling me.  Oh my God, what if she already knows?  What am I going to tell her?”

“Do you want me to tell her?” he offered.

“No!” she snapped.  “That would make things even worse.  If she had to hear it from someone else first, I would never live this down.”

He held his hands up in mock surrender.  “Got it.  You’ve got this one.”

Her shoulders sank, taking in the sight of him in his hard-on tented boxer briefs.  He was all toned and sculpted and touching her again.

“I’m sorry.  This is something I’ve got to do on my own, but it’s not going to be easy.  Priya is going through a lot right now, so this,” she gestured between them, “is not going to go over well, I’m afraid.”

[Romance Book Club] December 2018 Book Announcement

Here’s what we’re reading this month. Ready? Can’t see images? Click here…
Happy December!

If you’ve been wondering what our December book club pick is, wait no further! I’m a few days late in sending this out. I’ve been a little busy this past month, but I did have a chance to finish Richer Than Sin that we read last month (that one will be a tough one to beat!), and if you didn’t get a chance to read that one, it’s definitely one to go back and read when you get a chance.

But for now, I’m pleased to announce the pick for this month…

To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing this letter to formally announce my resignation from Parker International (& the arrogant, condescending CEO) effective two weeks from today.

This was a VERY EASY decision to make, as the past two years have been utterly miserable. I wish his next executive assistant all the luck in the world (she’ll need it) and if my boss should need me to do anything over the next two weeks, kindly tell him that he can do it [his] goddamn self…

Sincerely (Not Really),
Tara Lauren

That’s the version of my two weeks’ notice I should’ve sent to my boss, because the more professional version–the one where I said I was “grateful for all the opportunities,” and “honored by all the rewarding experiences” over the years?

That letter was rejected with his sexy, trademark smirk and an “I highly suggest you read the fine print of your contract…”

So, I did.

And now I’ve realized that unless I fake my death, poison him, or find a way to renegotiate my impossible contract, I’m stuck working under one of the cockiest and most ruthless bosses in New York.

Then again, I thought that was the case until he called me late last night with an emergency proposition…

**This is a standalone contemporary romance.**

#BookReview – The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

the kiss quotient - helen hoang
The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have to admit, I started reading this book after seeing an excerpt in some article somewhere, and I wondered if this book would really live up to its hype.

Mystery solved… it does!

From the well-beyond-ordinary characters that I completely fell in love with, to the slow-burn romance, to the steaming hot love scenes between these diverse, unconventional people, Hoang has definitely turned me into a fan.

Stella has a Ph.D. in Econometrics. She’s brilliantly smart, hardworking, and there’s nothing more she likes more than her work… so much so that she works even on her days off. As such, her parents are filthy rich, and she herself, even outside of her family money, has more money than the poor girl knows what to do with. She’s also on the Autism Spectrum.

As a super-introvert myself, I have to say I can 100% relate to this part of the story, but Stella at some point realizes she must turn the act of learning how to be good in social settings into a task to master, including how to successfully be in a romantic relationship with a man. These things do not come naturally to her, so the best way she can come up with to master such a thing is to hire someone to teach her.

Introduce Michael. Michael is a Vietnamese man a few years younger than Stella, described to be very handsome and often said to look like two different movie stars. Michael is such an endearing character on so many levels. So what if he makes money on the weekends as a Male Escort? He has his reasons… and it’s lucky he did when you think about it, because otherwise, he may have never met poor Stella.

When these two get together, sparks fly, and the push and pull of will-they-won’t-they is just enough to keep you wildly flipping the pages to get to the “they will!” parts. The way he takes her and puts her at ease, making her feel comfortable in her own skin, making her see how a man should treat her and making her see that what she wants is just as important as what her partner wants, and making her see that she’s perfect just the way she is, labels be damned.

This book will challenge you, and it will break your heart, and it will restore your faith in humanity once again when all is said and done. If you add one Must-Read book to your TBR this year, I’d say this one should be it.
